Bachelor degrees (Honours) are 4 years in duration, with the specialisation coming in the 3rd and 4th years. The modular structure of the university allows students to take classes from across our 3 faculties, giving students academic flexibility: Health, Life & Social Sciences; Engineering, Computing & Creative Industries; and Napier University Business School.

Tuition

The Center for International Studies does not charge for its services in preparing you for studying for a full degree at one of our partner institutions, therefore you will be responsible for paying only the direct fees charged by the university you attend. Unlike U.S. institutions, overseas universities charge different fees for different programs. An example would be that if you are interested in a program in the Humanities you would probably pay less than in the Sciences where lab expenses would be included.

Tuition amounts vary considerably but a range for an undergraduate degree may be between $US10,000 - $US12,00 for non laboratory-based programs and $US15,000 to $US18,000 for laboratory-based programs. Graduate fees can range from $US11,500 - $US17,000 per year (many take only one year). When you request information on a particular university a fee schedule will be provided by CIS. In addition to the tuition fees, you will want to be prepared for the other costs associated with traveling abroad such as travel expenses, meals (if you are not on a meal plan), local transportation, spending money, etc.

To find the exact cost of your program please visit http://www.napier.ac.uk/prospectivestudents/international/fees/Pages/default.aspx (This page will open in a new window). Also, please be aware that Napier offers you a 2.5%-5% discount on the tuition if you pay for the whole year in advance by a certain date (please look under tuition fees on the above link). Napier offer an automatic £1000 fee reduction for all US students studying on full degree programmes in Edinburgh.

Studying in Edinburgh

Edinburgh provides an excellent learning environment as there are over 100,000 students studying here, making life lively and student focused.

Edinburgh is not only Scotland's dynamic capital, but also was voted as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Of the 450,000 inhabitants, many thousands are students, giving the city a young profile and ensuring that it is a lively place with much happening all year around. The city center, designated a World Heritage Site by the United Nations, is filled with beautiful historic streets and buildings.

To escape the daily bustle of the city is easy – Edinburgh has over 112 public parks and more trees per person than any other British city. Around 50% of the city is parkland.

Edinburgh is a clean, safe and green city, with large parks and gardens scattered throughout. Because of its compactness and efficient public transportation system, it is very easy to get around the city.
